Monday, monday

Monday Monday, can’t trust that day
The brilliant Bradley Walsh was on Soccer AM and admitted to being a Gooner. This didn’t surprise me but I’m sure I read in Buzzer’s programme column in a recent fixture v The Brummies that he was a Big Birmingham City supporter.
Blustery, rainy, day for Spurs. We had it won at 2 -0, but defensive mistakes – Dzeko, Savic and Joe boobing for their first. Lescott did a flailing arm and Mario a pirouette on that dirty little bastard Parker (who did Robinho a few years ago at West Ham) and has just been banned for, not one, not two, not three, but four games tho surely we’ll win the appeal – the FA can’t make it TOO obvious that they want the rags to win the title EVERY year. Is Bernstein on the panel?
Bugger, had to go out for a pee on 90 minutes. Me and this other guy heard the roar – “not loud enough for City” I said. The cheering Blues ran out – penalty - Joe must’ve saved it – “No it’s for us” came the word then the roar meant we’d won. Who’d be a bloody fanzine editor/seller eh? And it peed down. Typically Wenger made an astute tactical substitution at The Emirates and gifted the game to the rags. Nevill ragness came out when he said Lescott AND mario should have been sent off. Rag objectivity? No chance. No wonder everyone hates them..... Smalling‘s been tweeting “just waiting for City to crumble” – no wonder....... Do we continually slag off other teams or are we classy?
You got it.
Anyway, Wednesday looms…..

  1. I remember Parker trying to kick Eyal Bertkovic off the park when he was at Charlton, he's nowt but a thug.

  2. What matter's is that Mario was stupid to do what he did and how City handle this. There's no way the FA will back down as they will want to be seen to be "doing the right thing", therefore Mario will be banned. Option 1 depends on whether City want Mario for Weds - we can do a "Rio" and say we're going to appeal, get Weds out of the way and then cancel the appeal. Option 2 accept the ban, Mario misses weds and 3 league matches. Option 3 dispute and Mario probably misses 5 games.
Would we want Mario for Weds? He'd be very useful if the game goes to penalties. I'd, therefore go for option 1.
This does highlight our need to sort out the striker situation and we'd be in real trouble if something happens to Sergio. Something must be done about Tevez if he doesn't go by 31st Jan. If he's still with us, get the bugger back to at least give us another option.

  3. As sick as I am of the OTT reaction to Balotelli's antics, I have to agree with Dave that he was stupid. If Webb had've seen the stamp, sent him off and Defoe scored from that late chance, Sunday could've ruined our whole season. Balotelli was brought on for (ineffective) Dzeko to win the game. He did, but came mighty close to letting team and fans down AGAIN.

If the Kompany appeal failed when most of football thought the sending off was wrong, we would have absolutely no chance here - which again makes me think of the FA's appeal against Rooney's England suspension!

Ultimately, we are now without Balotelli's services for the umpteenth time and I wonder how much longer the club can tolerate this. I know he isn't all bad but I do believe he is too much of a liability and the club now needs look to offload him (and Dzeko) in the Summer. I would, however, hate to see Tevez in a City shirt again. Every time I see his picture I feel angry.

  4. I actually think we're lucky to escape with losing Mario for 4. Truth is, I think it was mainly accidental, based on his reaction after the incident when he did seem genuinely concerned for Parker. If he'd done it on purpose he would have kept his distance, thinking that the bastard deserved it. But as things stand, we can cope with 2 strikers, so long as we avoid the alternative of playing Dzeko as a lone striker which Does Not Work.

What we couldn't have coped so well with would be doing without Lescott. The sooner we don't have to use Savic the better and the thought of getting Vinny back and then having to lose Lescott don't appeal. And to my vision, there's no doubt Joleon meant to give the guy a smack. At least Mario has reasonable doubt on his side, even if I think it's about 60/40 that he did Parker on purpose.

It's a pity about Savic who seems like a nice kid, but prone to the odd howler, whether from nerves or just inexperience. Before the first Spurs goal I'd been thinking how he seemed to have settled down a bit and putting it down to the trio of starts, now I'm not sure. We should knock him out to Leicester or similar so he can get a stream of meaningful games and see if he can get properly up to speed.

  5. Un-bloody-believeable! The FA are taking no action over the Peter Crouch incident. For those who have not seen it, a couple of weeks ago against WBA, Crouch comes up behind the WBA player and deliberatly rakes his fingers over the guy's eye. we're talking about a pre-meditated assault rather than a spur of the moment silly reaction eg Mario. Can you imagine the fuss if Mario had done the eye-raking?
This one law for City and another for everyone else is getting completely out of hand. Crouch, Glen Johnson, Rooney, Neville, Ferdinand, Vidic, I could go on and on. The rule seems to be if it's a City player no punishment is severe enough, any other club it doesn't matter!
I'm really pissed about this and it's high time the club got some answers on what the f***in hell is going on!

  6. Agree it's just a bit early for Savic. Typical of our luck that Kompany gets suspended just when Toure leaves for Africa.

Just on the original thread, never thought I'd hear myself saying this but I have to disagree about Neville ragness. I think he's been the most pro-City pundit that I can remember and if you wanna slag someone for anti-City comments look closer to home at that traitor bastard Danny Mills. I've never heard such a bitter biased a***h*** in my life. The last time I heard him was a week last Sunday on 5 Live when he said Scholes is the best player he's ever played with or against, adding he is "not quite as good as Messi now" FFS!!! Then he said Mancini has handled Tevez all wrong. Then that he's said all season that City aren't good enough - there's something missing. Anyone who has heard him in co-commentary will know just what I mean. I think Neville has been a breath of fresh air and has mostly talked sense.
