I’ve just seen Roberto Mancini (looking like Keegan in his last days) on Sky Sports News agreeing with the interviewer that he underestimated Everton. I find that incomprehensible.

  1. Yes, a weak performance and our away form is now a real issue, we have been found out and there is no plan B. The lack of pace was painful with only Kolarov offering anything, but with his wretched good position/good cross ratio it was not enough. Adam J I'm ready to give up on, likewise Dzeko who was dreadful last night, maybe the early season burst was the exception and this is the real Edin. Maybe with more pace on the flanks, he might look better but I'm not too sure now.
Silva looks knackered and maybe this loan Italian could allow us to rest David in the clogging games. Raises the point that wasn't Hargreaves supposed to be this option?
The lack of forward options highlights what happens now Tevez is with us until the summer at least. If he comes back to Manchester he has to be used, unless the existing 3 forwards rediscover some form ( scoring in Sergio's case ) and Mario can avoid bans until the end of the season.
The 9 points between us and Chelsea should be enough to be sure of 3rd place, but that would surely see Roberto out as Mourinho is apparently wanting to come back to England in the summer.

  2. Honestly can’t see where the next away win is coming from and City are now paying the price for the Tevez delay. We desperately need a fourth Centre Forward who can offer a Plan B, particularly when we start humping the ball long.
Kolarov and Dzeko might be weak, but the problems run a lot deeper. We simply don’t create enough chances, regardless of possession.
Adam Johnson is great when City are winning 3-1 and the opposition are leaving gaps for him to exploit. When we really need him to produce, he goes missing.

  3. Glad to hear no threats!

I feel exactly the same as Neil about Johnson, who just infuriates me. It's hard to believe Mancini could underestimate Everton but even HARDER to believe the players themselves could. My God, we played them off the park last season and still came away with nothing and you'd think with the hostile atmosphere they've always faced, everyone would have been looking forward to getting some revenge and finally shutting them up.

I thought James Milner was extremely unlucky to be brought off as he was about the only player to do himself justice. Barry has gone right off since Yaya left and his passing was shocking. But even on a night when so many were below par I thought Dzeko stood out. It seems like every attacking move breaks down when the ball reaches him and it was another careless loss of possession by him that led to Everton's goal. When we haven't got the ball you see Aguero shuttling around harrassing defenders whilst this big pudding can be seen in the foreground either walking or standing still. He's contributing nothing and last night I was screaming for Savic to replace him!!!

Getting seriously concerned now. We've failed to score against West Brom, Sunderland and Everton and managed only one against Wigan. This is the kind of form that got Hughes fired. Playing like this you really can't fancy our chances at places like Stoke, Arsenal and Newcastle and even Norwich & Swansea will be difficult. 66% possession is all very well but we need to up the pace and rediscover the art of creating chances. - fast.
