Happy New Year

Tomorrow it's Sjoke, here's the it's a fix extract, and a happy new year to everyone :

21) TUESDAY JANUARY 1ST : STOKE (HOME) KO 3PM
Now in their 5th Prem season. Last and only trophy the League Cup in 1972, 88th league meeting. Recent connection : Glen Whelan

This season so far they’re in 8th place with 29 points from 20 games and 1 win 6 draws and 3 losses away from home.
At The Britannia in September it was the usual 1-1 draw, Crouch putting them one up with a handball goal (15) though our defending was poor. Garcia equalised (35) but we just couldn’t clinch it. Crowd was 27,301 with 2873 Blues)
In the Capital One Cup they went out 4-3 at home aet to Swindon in the 2nd rd.
In the FA Cup they’ve drawn Crystal Palace away in the 3rd rd

Form at home to Stoke : Last season it was that 3-0 win in December, Aguero (29, 54) Johnson (36) the scorers. Crowd was 46,321 with 853 Stokies.
They’ve had only one win in the last 9 league visits, 1-0 in 97/98, whilst City have won the other 8.
For City it’s : WWWWWWWWL

Comment : Average season for Stoke this term but they’ve picked up recently, beating Liverpool and drawing with Saints at home . We enjoy good form against them at The Etihad, and their away form isn’t good, so today should be no different, hopefully.

WWTWTWShite: Averaged 8, 288 in 85/86 and currently it’s 27,107

  1. We were never in any real danger and Stoke always looked as though they were resigned to losing 3-0 again. Shame our next game is Arsenal away as our customary defeat there could put united 10 points ahead.

  2. Tony - look on the bright side, at least Arsenal won't park the bus. on another note I would assume Nasty returns to partner VK as I suspect Lescott was a one off to counter the aerial threat of Stoke. with Aguero injured does Mancini give Mario one last chance? I suspect RM to play him against Watford, but even with a MOM performance would you give him a chance of redemption at Arsenal? I would start Dzeko & Tevez and bring on Mario should City fall behind. but that would only be if Mario shows form & composure against Watford, which let's be honest is a game City cannot take lightly cause should we should be aiming to win the FA cup.

  3. Not to take Watford lightly fair enough, but surely any time from our squad should be able to see them off at home without much trouble.
We do seem to be gathering pace form wise, Vinny looking back to his near best, Silva the same, Sergio superb against Stoke and let's hope he's ok for Arsenal. At the Emirates, I think, having watched the game against Soton, that we have little to fear. The loss of YaYa, another annoyingly back to near best, is a problem but a midfield of Barry, Milner, Silva and I guess Garcia should match them.
We'll probably need to end the Arsenal away hoodoo (in the league), as I can see Liverpool getting a bit of a spanking at o/t, let's hope they can put up a fight and maybe snatch a draw.
