Newcastle
Firstly a note to the very eloquent Jon Howarth – we don’t sing 6-1, we sing “it should’ve been ten”. Now fuck off.
Good trip up to the north east in the Savagemobile, with no traffic problems, unlike on the opposite side of the A1, Sunderland fans (and rags presumably) on their way to the swamp.
Cold but crisp in Geordieland and I was directed past the turnstiles to the lift by a friendly steward who then told us we couldn’t sell KK in the ground!
Morning news was that Mario is appealing against his two weeks wages fine for indiscipline last season re his sendings off.
Great performance from the lads, good saves from Joe and superb attacking. Carlos on from the start, making Roberto’s lack of judgement in previous games – Chelsea, Wigan etc look even dafter. So a good result. City fans let off flares and it always surprises me that folk can get in with flares but not with the incredibly dangerous fanzines.
Kolarov is in a bit of trouble re altercations with Newcy fans holding up an Albanian flag. Not sure what that’s all about – didn’t notice anything at the game. Neil may have a point with our attack, but it’s the better of the other options
Over at the Swamp the Sunderland massacre didn’t materialise though we await any stories of rags attacking Mackems, usually women and kids are their target. Cleverley, who was responsible for the ‘demolition derby
Job' on Ya Ya Toure (funny, I thought Ya Ya got our first goal) is now the new Bryan Robson.
Shay Given was on Goals on Sunday and said that Roberto didn’t speak to him after he was replaced by Joe Hart. So another question mark against our manager and I understand that he’s also aloof with our exec fans. Does it matter? Not when things are going well, but…..
Sunday night was the Sportsperson of the Year awards, rightly won by Bradley Wiggins, but included a touching tribute to our title win and an impressive display of the Poznan by the audience.

  1. Whilst still convinced that the Ferdinand coin wasn't thrown from the City end I think the Newcastle incident was embarassing, pathetic and smacked of United's "We do what we want" mantra.
Even more depressing is the number of City fans on other forums who can't see the problem

  2. Sorry guys, I am obviously missing something
here. Who is Jon Howarth and what Newcastle incident?

  3. Tony: a City fan threw a smoke bomb into the Newcastle end. Nobody was hurt, but it gave us more bad publicity regardless of whether it was harmless or dangerous.
