Norwich

Boxing Day
And a good run up to Sunderland in the Tom-mobile, stopping at Durham services.
Surprisingly we were in the top tier at the opposite end to normal, where the away fans queue back to back with  home fans. Very odd. Well it just wouldn’t go in again today. Are City the daftest club in the world? Not only were our summer signings shite, but we managed to sell one of our players to a club where he scored against us to put a huge dent in our top three ambitions this season.
The rags won, without any help from the best ref in the business, Mike Dean, and Fergie disgraced himself with touchline antics berating the ref, linesman and 4th official. No wonder everyone hates them.
So we now sit 7 points behind the rags, 4 points ahead of Chelsea who have a game in hand, and with the African Nations Cup, plus difficult away trips coming up it looks like the FA Cup for us and a top 3 finish at best.
The recovery MUST start at Norwich on Saturday, here’s the It’s A Fix extract :

20) SATURDAY DECEMBER 29TH : NORWICH (AWAY) KO 3PM
Second season in the Prem this time. Last pot league Cup in 1985. 53rd League meeting. Recent connection Garrido.

This season so far they’re in 11th place with 25 points from 19 games and 5 wins 2 draws and 2 losses at home.
In the Capital One Cup they lost to Villa at  4-1 at home in the 5th rd after seeing off Spurs 2-1, Doncaster 1-0, and Scunthorpe 2-1 all at home.
In the FA Cup they’ve drawn Peterborough away in the 3rd rd.
Last season at The Etihad in December it was a 5-1 City win. Aguero (32), Nasri (51) YY Toure (68), Balotelli (88) Johnson (90) Crowd was 47,201 with 2786 Canaries.
At Carrow Road on a bright April day it was that unforgettable 6-1 City win. Tevez was refused a blatant penalty, and even booked for diving by rags ref Chris Foy. He notched a hat-trick (18,73,80) prompting his golfing celebration, Aguero bagged a couple (27,75) and Johno made it 6 (90). Crowd was 26,812 with 2,300 Blues. Too much too late? Well the week after it was game on as the rags drew at home to Everton and we went on to win the next 6 games to take the title on goal difference and those 6 at Norwich proved priceless

Form at Norwich : Last season’s win made it 2 wins, 5 draws and 3 defeats.
For City : WWLLDDDDL

Comment : Recovered well after a dodgy start and even did us a favour by beating the rags. They’ve slipped a bit recently though, having just lost at home to Chelsea. We always do well against Norwich and so long as complacency doesn’t seep in today should be no different.
Check out The White Horse Inn at Trowse if you’re up for karaoke on the Friday night..

Groundwise: We’re in the same place as usual, at one end of the stand opposite the main stand.

Carrow Road :Capacity : 27,000 (2,300 for City)

WWTWTWShite : Averaged 13,750 in 68/69 and this season it’s 26,615.
Pubs/Parking : Local car parks.
Away day zine : Kick it Off
Sat Nav : NR1 1JE

  2. One of the most bent refereeing displays I've seen since we were in the old 2nd division down at Tranmere. Their first goal was never a free kick as you will not see a cleaner tackle from a defender than Kompany's, even in the current climate. The commentatators seemed to be suggesting that the referee gave it in compensation for YaYa's challenge which lead to our second goal, although that too looked perfectly acceptable as both players slid in and Toure came away with the ball. At 2-1, we had a clear penalty turned down and what the officials were thinking about for Nasri's sending off, I just don't know. That wise old sage Dion Dublin reckoned it was because Nasri, after looking injured, got up quickly to instigate the head touching (which is all it was by both players) But even so, if you were going to send Nasri off, the other guy should have gone too. Well done City! I am more certain than ever that Ferguson has declared his intent to retire when he's won his 20th title and the officials are desperately trying to make sure it happens so he can retite at the end of this season when he'll be awarded a Lordship. After today, it might be worth giving them the league title just to see the back of him

  3. I'm a bit curious as to why it was Silva who was sacrificed when I truly believe it should have been ya ya who made way for Milner. Now I realize I am going to upset a lot of City fans as as many City fans along with Mancini think he is untouchable. now I realize ya ya can be a force of nature when he makes those surging runs forward but I still maintain he can be a liability defensively as he tends to lumber about in the defensive third, taking the wrong angle to the ball, failing to track runs, and rarely closing down players when City lose possion. 11 v 11 he can get away with this as Barry or Garcia are there to cover, but 10 v 11he does not exactly exhibit a backs to the wall mentality that inspires confidence.

  4. Having watched it again, I can see that it was Kompany who's strong challenge it was which lead to our second goal. Having watched the challenge, it does seem hard, but MotD found nothing wrong with it and when you consider their track record! However, I have seen fouls given in that situation. I maintain that Nasri was unlucky to have been sent off for little more than head touching, but appealing will be pointless as our appeal will be based on the fact that the Norwich guy wasn't sent off. The Sun on Sunday made me laugh when nit declared that "Dzeko was given the benefit of the doubt for offside for his goal." He was given the benefit of the doubt because he wasn't offside you appendige.
