Coming up for air

ON/OFF THE PITCH
Mourinho continued his tiresome sounding off before the Chelsea Cup game and you can now realise why the English media darling was so detested in Italy and Spain.
Took up my usual spot on Ashton New Road, which was quite intimidating to be honest. Chelsea fans strutting past singing “F*ck off David Moyes, Wenger touches boys, we’ve got Mourinho,  Mourinho”. Classy eh? I was surprised at the lack of policing considering their presence at some lower profile games and how it didn’t kick off was a mystery.
Ticker tape show before the game organised by the 1894 group. We’ve recently chatted to Dante Friend in this regard and hope to clarify what it’s all about in a future issue.
Minutes silence and applause pre kick off for the fantastic footballer and man, Sir Tom Finney, who’s passed away at the age of 91. I was privileged  to talk with him a few years ago and I’ve also read his autobiography. An interesting bit I thought was after he’d played a great game in an International and General Montgomery who was present wrote to him afterwards which went something like this “Dear Finney, well played in the recent match, I have enclosed a signed  photograph of myself for you” ! Pompous pri*k!
And what a performance from our boys. Captain Vinny was an inspiration and everyone performed so well, and good to shut the Chelsea boys up.
The draw gave us Wigan at home, so a welcome return for Uwe Rosler.
Managed to get KK213 off to the printers tonight, it’s the Capital One Cup special. 15 years ago KK93 lamented  25 years of no silverware, and our front cover this time is very similar, but this time we’re celebrating reaching the Cup final after a Prem league and FA Cup win. As usual it’s A4, colour front and back cover. £3 for 48 pages of brilliance! Ta very much to all our contributors.
Mourinho's at it again. How can it possibly be an advantage to have a fixture pile up at the end of the season?
Shut the F*ck up Jose, or at least some journo’s take him to task.
Barca tomorrow. What a shame that Alves has ruined a night when our fans would have shown our class with appreciation of Messi and co by saying we’ve no class. Twat. Ooops that’s not very classy Mr Ed.
Anyway here’s the it’s A Fix extract from KK212 :
26B) TUESDAY FEBRUARY 18TH : BARCELONA (HOME) UEFA CHAMPS LEAGUE RD OF 16. KO 7.45PM
Barca were formed in 1899 by Swiss, English and Catalonian footballers led by Joan Gamper. They are a symbol of Catalanism, their motto is ‘More Than a Club’ and anthem is ‘Cant Del Barca’. Club colours are reputed, peculiarly, to be based on those of Crystal Palace They are an irreverent bunch and once booed the National Anthem which did not go down well with the establishment
They’ve won 22 La Liga’s, (and are current Champions) 26 Copa Del Rey’s, 11Super Cups, 3 Copa Eva Duarto’s.
In Europe they’ve won 4 UEFA Champions cups, 4 Cup winners’ Cups, 4 UEFA Super Cups, 3 Cities Fairs Cups, 2 FIFA World Club Cups.
They currently play in the Camp Nou, capacity 99,786 and are managed by Gerardo Martins.
They were the first team in 1961 to knock Real Madrid out of Europe, which was some revenge for an 11-1 drubbing in 1943.
They are currently joint top of La Liga with both Atletico and Real Madrid with 57 points from 23 games with 18  wins 3 draws and 2 losses.
Current connections are Ferran Soriano and Txiki Beginstain, who will be frostily received!
Results in the Champions League : Celtic 1-0 away, 6-1 home; Ajax 1-2 away, 4-0 home; AC Milan 1-1 away, 3-1 home.
Last season they went out to Bayern Munich 0-4 away, 0-3 home

Friendlies :
1951/52 A 1-5; 1956/57 A2-3; 1974/75 A 2-3; 1986/87 A 1-1; 2002/03 H 2-1 when they opened COMS and we dreamt we might meet them in Europe one day: 2009/10 A 1-0 (Joan Gamper  trophy)

Comment: Really they don’t need much of an introduction as they are so well known, particularly in Manchester as they’ve thrashed the rags twice in European Cup finals.
It will be great to see Messi and company here at the Etihad and we’re surely in for a football feast.
Dave
