Saturday

SATURDAY
Really enjoyed City live on Thursday night. Just finished the questionnaire which omits the question : who did you attend with, and if you’re an OAP there isn’t a postcode for where you work!!
Never mind.
Strangely the L/P/manumirror has an article by Scholes having a pop at the rags. Lovely, that should endear him to united fans.
Big day today at Wallace Towers – joint birthday party for grandkids Isaac, 4, and Laura (nearly)  1. Bouncy castle in place.
Tomorrow it’s the big kick off, and we’re off to windy Newcastle. Here’s the It’s A Fix extract from KK216:

1)     SUNDAY AUGUST 17TH : NEWCASTLE (AWAY) KO 4PM

Fourth season back in the Prem. Last pot the 1969 Inter Cities Fairs Cup, recent connection is Shay Given, and this is the 157th league meeting.

Some celeb fans : Robson Jerome, Tony Blair, Ant and Dec, Sting, Jimmy Nail, Brian Johnson, Mark Knopfler, Paul Collingwood, Steve Harmison

Last season : They finished in 10th place with 49 points and 8 home wins 3 draws and 8 losses.

At the Etihad : It was a great 4-0 home win at the start of the season on a Monday night. Goals came from Silva (6), Aguero (22), Toure (50) Nasri (75) Crowd was 46,842 with 1,574 Geordies.
At Newcastle : It was a 2-0 City win in January. Dzeko opened (8) and Negredo (90+5)  clinched it after a very nervy performance when they had what looked like a decent goal chalked off. Crowd was 49,423 with 2,497 Blues.

In the Capital One Cup : In the 4th round they lost to us 2-0 aet. It was an incredibly boring game and the goals didn’t arrive until the 99th and 105th minute through Negredo and Dzeko. Crowd was 33, 846 with 2,507 Blues
In the FA Cup : They lost at home to Cardiff in the 3rd rd

Our League form at Newcastle : 6 wins and 1 draw in the last 7 games.
For City : WWWWDWW

Transfers so far: Newton, Gosling, Ameobi, and Richards have left and Perez, Colback, deJong, Jammaat, Riviera, Ferreyra, Barlow, Lascelles,  and Cabella have come in.

Comment: We can’t keep beating them can we? But we need to! Fans are still discontented with the Ashley and Wonga situation but at least they’ve made a few signings this summer. What will Pardew think of the fuckin old c*nt after he won two trophies last season? Humble pie young man, and no head butts please!
Last Saturday’s reserve team performance wasn’t inspiring and whilst our big guns should be back, match fitness is in question. Only a win will do.
Respect and condolencies to the friends and family of Liam Sweeney and John Alder who lost their lives in the MH17 plane crash whilst on their way to watch Newcastle in New Zealand in the summer tour. RIP.

St James Park : Capacity : 52,387 (2,500 initially for City)

Tickets : £TBC

Groundwise : No surprise, we’ll still be in the top tier of level 7 of the Sir John Hall stand high up behind the goal. No flares or smoke bombs please.
WWTWTWShite : Averaged 16,001 in 1980/81 and last season it was 50,395. Incredible.
Pubs/parking: Plenty of pubs, on street parking and local car parks
Away day zines : True Faith, Talk of the Tyne, Black and White Mad. Sadly, The Mag has gone digital.
Sat Nav : NE1 4ST

  1. One more point on the Garcia issue which only occurred to me last night whilst watching highlights of the Palace comeback v Liverpool last season.
Palace's second goal came from a speedy breakaway with Glen Johnson badly out of position. They would never have scored it against City because Garcia would have twatted the winger and taken a yellow card.

    1. I noticed on the commentary that as the mighty Manew were humbled by Swansea no mention was made of the amount of money manew have spent or the comparative value of players just that Van Gaal always takes a few games before he gets results (sometime after Christmas?) Well done the Swans.

  2. A strange game which we dominated without really creating many chances.
If anything, it reminded me of the defeat at Villa Park last season. We looked lethargic and couldn’t really have complained if Newcastle had snatched a late equalizer.
Silva had a mad five minutes at the start of the second half (what was he thinking after Hart had saved the original chance of the double-save?), but along with Fernando and Kolarov, he seemed a little sharper than some of his team mates
Also, we looked more vulnerable on the counter attack once we had made a couple of defensive substitutions. It was that kind of game.

  3. I think we got away with it,just. These first three games are going to be difficult while players are getting fit. "Hoofing" the ball away is contrary to David's nature I don't know why he was in that position, our most creative player doing last ditch defending?
