Glyn, I'm sure you're not senile but posting 3 times makes me wonder!

Watford then and a potential banana skin, as we headed for a record 10th win (not 13, oops) on the trot.
Lovely day, the sort you’d expect early in the season in Manchester, unlike at Everton last week when it rained.
We received a letter from the club telling us our seasoncards were no good and so were given a replacement paper one which worked just fine.
Watford fans couldn’t sell their allocation so whilst the bottom tiers were full, the top tier was half empty. Shouldn’t that tier have been filled first?
Anyway, we all know the rest, record broken, 12 points, ten goals, none conceded and Blue Moon Rising. Wait a minute, Chelsea lost at home 2-1 to Palace, Liverpool lost at home 3-0 to West Ham, Arsenal won 1-0 at Newcastle though, so 2 outta 3 not bad, it only needed the rags to lose at Swansea on Sunday to make our weekend! Guess what? Lovely. And we’ve signed Kevin De Bruyne.
Surely the manumirror wouldn’t find a negative headline? Well, apparently we’re obscene and we would be even more obscene if we don’t go on to win the title.
Steve Bates, surprisingly was very gushing on Sunday Supplement.
KK226 deadline is round about now incidentally.

season opener

It was Middlesbrough away I think, Blackpool were in the first division and City in the second!

Saturday, 29 August 2015

Just back from South Wales so not quite up to speed. Watford tomorrow for a record 13 wins on the trot if we’re not daft. Bony injured again?
3 draws for Watford so far, and no wins, plus they’ve gone out of the Capital one Cup at Preston - ooooh after our start you’d expect a big win, but a win is all that’s necessary before the break.

No pots for Watford but a Cup Final loss to Everton in 1984.13th League meeting.
Recent connections: Think we’ve got to go as far back as Tony Coton.

Some celeb fans : Elton John, Jennifer Aniston, Robert Downey JR

Last season : Despite a good start Watford sacked manager Beppe Sannino, then Oscar Garcia retired with health problems. Next for the chopping block was Billy McKinlay, who lasted until 7th October when Stavisa Jokanovic steered them to 2nd place and promotion with 89 points. So much for stability! Away from home they won 13 drew 4 and lost 6
Jokanovic went at the end of the season and new manager is Quique Flores.

Last meetings were in the FA Cup games of seasons 12/13 and 13/14. In the 3rd rd of 12/13 it was a 3-0 City win. Goals came from Tevez (25), Barry (44), and Lopes (90). Crowd was 46,821 with 6,000 Hornets. In the 4th rd in 13/14 they went 2-0 up through Forestieri (20) and Deeney (30). The fightback began thro Sergio (60, 79) then Kolarov’s free kick somehow eluded their goalie (86) before Sergio completed his hat-trick in the 90th minute. Cruel on Watford. Crowd was 46, 534 with 3,352 Hornets.

In the Prem, just the two meetings in season 2006/07, a 0-0 home draw in December, crowd was 35,915 with 973 Hornets. and a 1-1 away draw, on a nice sunny April day. Vassell took advantage of a Ben Foster cock up, scoring in the 53rd minute but Priskin equalised in the 75th minute. Crowd was 18,537 with Noel G and Bez. amongst the Blue contingent. The draw meant Watford were relegated, then we had the Joey Barton rant on GMR on how City should be signing bigger players, then his later assault on Dabo meant he was out plus Stuart Pearce’s fate was also sealed. (1 home league goal since the New Year!)

Comment : Quite a few ins and outs but no big name signings, tho Ben Watson is in the squad!!!. Always a big ask for promoted teams and we know all about Watford after the shock they gave us in the Cup game recently at the Etihad.
Surely we won’t be taking them lightly then and a good win is imperative.

Our league form at home to Watford : Won 3, drawn 2 and lost 2 : DWWLLW

Parked up in the garage near Goodison where I lost then found the Barcelona tickets last season. Rain just after 3 o clock curtailed KK sales so we went in and found our seats in the upper tier a few rows from the front at the far side so luckily no restricted view. Chelsea scraped home at West Brom we heard.
Fantastic gritty and determined display from City and a deserved win at a very difficult place.
So looking good at the mo and only complacency or over confidence can stop us it would seem and there’s not much sign of that at the minute..
Reasonable getting away from the ground and home fairly early feeling very very good.
Even the manumirror can’t find much to criticise us at the moment and long may it continue.
Arsenal 0, Liverpool 0, good match for 3rd and 4th place! Roll on the weekend.

Tonight’s headline is ”United unbeaten after 3 games” Still, they should be OK when they can hoof it up to ‘elbows’ Fellaini.
Everton tomorrow, and Lukaku biging it up in todays Guardian. Let’s hope Vinny can put him in his place

Last promotion was in 1954, millionaires of the 60’s, last pot FA Cup in 1995, 165th  league meeting, recent connections Jack Rodwell, Gareth Barry.
As always, eternal thanks to Bill Kenwright for telling Sheikh Mansour where to stick his money!

Some celeb fans : Andy Burnham (Leigh MP and future labour leader and PM), Freddie Starr, Amanda Holden, John Conteh, John Parrott, Ian Astbury, Austin Healey, Matt Dawson, and fans Jimmy from Stolen Haven, Teesy, Brian Price, and the Evertonian bloke from 26, Holdenbrook Close who kindly brings the KK mail round when it’s incorrectly addressed!

Last season : They finished in 11th place with 47 points and 7 wins 7 draws and 5 losses at home.
At the Etihad in December it was a narrow 1-0 win for the Sky Blues. Yaya scored from a penalty after  24 minutes. They managed to crock Sergio and the crowd was 45,603 with 2,679 Toffees.
At Goodison a few weeks later in January it was a 1-1 draw. Fernandinho  made the breakthrough in the 74th minute but we couldn’t hang on and from an inswinging free kick which foxed Joe, Naismith nodded in 4 minutes later. Crowd was 39,499 with 2,895 City.
In the Capital One Cup they lost 3-0 at Swansea in the 3rd rd
In the Europa Cup, they had a good run but went out to Dynamo Kyiv 6-4 on aggregate in the round of 16.
In the FA Cup in the 3rd rd they went out at West Ham after a replay.

Our Form at Goodison last season’s draw made it for City : DWLLLLW

Comment: Cleverley (boo) and Deulafeu have come in and Distin,  Alcaraz  but not Stones yet, have departed.
Always a toughie for us, but at least we’ve drawn and won in the last two.
Sometimes it’s good to catch them early doors. If I remember right they once lost their opening game 4-1 v Forest at home, but went on to win the league, but that was way back in the 80’s.
Second away game and another marker with hopefully a win.
So far they’ve drawn at home to Watford but won convincingly at Southampton.

Groundwise : Goodison Park capacity : 40,260, 2,900 for City. We’re in the left hand side of the antiquated Bullens Road stand, upper and lower, with restricted views.

Last season’s programme was a cracker, delightfully not perfect bound, and with classic Everton v City pics from the 50’s to the 80’s.
Parking : Stanley Road car park and other local ones.

WWTWTWShite: Averaged 19,343 in 1983/84 and last season it was 38,352.

Nice fine day on Sunday for the Chelski game. We arrived early enough but it was tricky getting into the East car park due to poor entry management
After saying hello to most of our regular buyers we headed to our new seats in the East stand which are fine and we’re surrounded by decent and passionate Blues.
Daughter and granddaughter were high up in the third tier of the Colin Bell and youngest son and grandson were seated in the fantastic South stand extension. Looks great, roof blending into East and West stand roofs a bit awkward, will  possibly be modified at a later date.
Feedback is that the away fan situation worked well, but it takes a long time to exit the top tier.
What a game and what a performance. Fantastic, top after 2 games, all the pre season doubts evaporated and we’re looking very good, though I thought that Raheem looked a bit lost second half..
MOTD reckoned that Dinho should’ve been sent off for leading with his arm, but I disagree as an elbow Fellaini style is the sending off offence.
Shearer did reckon also that City should’ve won 6-0, and I agree with that one!
Last night Liverpool cheated their way to 3 points. Steve Bruce said that the big boys get all the decisions so he’s accepted the fact that United’s success was purely down to refereeing decisions!
Tonight they’ve beaten Bruges with didgy decisions so normal service resumed at the swamp.

Saturday, 15 August 2015

Happy 5th  birthday to grandson Isaac
So the rags score one goal and get 6 points!
Interesting results, particularly Leicester going top, Sunderland losing again, Everton fans fly a Kendall out/oops Kenwright out banner and promptly win 3-0 at Saints. Swansea look good.
Chelsea in a bit of disarray maybe with the Mourinho/ Doc Eva debate., so we’re favourites tomorrow.. Phil Lines wants a chant : There’s only one Doctor Eva
One Doctor Eva

Last promotion was in 1989 (with us) since then they’ve won the lot.141st  league meeting.
Recent connections are Frank Lampard, Scott Sinclair and Danny Sturridge.

Some celeb fans : Sugsy, Michael Caine, Billl Clinton, Phil Daniels, Seb Coe, Minnie Driver, Dicky Attenborough RIP, Trevor Eve, Damon Allbarn (Abramovich look-alike) , Nick Kershaw, Bryan Adams

Last season they finished in 1st place at a canter with 87 points and 11 wins 5 draws and 3 losses away from home..
At The Etihad in September it was that 1-1 draw. They opened the scoring through Schurrie (71), Zab was sent off, Costa hit the post and Frank equalised in the 85th minute. Crowd was 45,602 with 2,687 pensioners.
At The Bridge in January it was a 1-1 draw, Remy opened (41)but Silva equalised 4 mins later. Crowd was 41,620 with 3,020 City.
In the Chimps league, they’ went out to PSG in the knock out stage.
In the Capital One Cup they won it with a 2-1 victory over Spurs.
In The FA Cup 3rd rd they sensationally went out 4-2 at home to * Bradford City after being 2-0 up!!!.

League form at home v Chelsea last season’s draw made it for City: DLWWWWL

Comment : Monster game to open up our home campaign. Falcau, Nathan and Begovic and maybe Stones have come in to strengthen their already formidable squad, but Cech, Bamford, and Drogba have gone.
Chelsea were the villains, gatecrashing the top four before we came along. Two draws against them last season, if everyone else had done that we’d have won the title, but as they only lost 3 games the whole of the season in the end it was too much for us. Boring Chelsea riles them and Mourinho, but he is a genius (in his own mind) and manager of the year. How the f*ck did he manage to fiddle that when he only won the title and League Cup? Surely it should’ve been Sherwood who saved Villa from relegation and got them to Wembley? Some of their ‘fans’ have had 5 year bans after their disgraceful racist display in Paris which shamed the club and English football.
They only managed a draw last week at home to Swansea, and it’ll be a new Etihad ground record attendance of over 50,000 further to Wednesday night’s safety certificate. Chelsea won’t spoil the party, will they?

WWTWTWShite : Averaged 12,672 in 1982/83 and last season it was a pitiful 41,542.

Went to the opening of the South stand extension on a beautiful night last night.
We were in the Legends lounge, which was very nice, and it was a chance to say hello to fellow Blues including Ian from Bredbury and Howard from Reddish, plus ex Blue goalie Steve Fleet.
Rest of the family were in the second tier but were disappointed with the catering, lack of promised face painting,  and the shop shutting right after the session.
Youngest daughter and granddaughter had their pics taken with Toni Duggan, who Tony Petrie had down as T**t of the month. Tony’s choice so we’re not being hypocritical here.

Heard a good story on the way home from a Blue who did the Anfield tour recently. Afterwards there was a Q and A session and David Johnson took the mic when the Sterling question came up. Surprisingly he said that City were on the way up and Liverpool hadn’t won the league for twenty five years so City were the better option for him to better himself at the mo, Just like David was when he signed for the Poo from Ipswich. A very brave speech commended in private by our Blue to Johno whilst Poo fans were open mouthed expecting the usual shite they’ve been fed on for the past 6 months or so.

Tuesday, 11 August 2015

We set off at about quarter past three and parked up at about quarter past six, after a few hold ups and taking a diversion to miss the M6/M5 chaos.
Steve P popped down to pick up duplicate tickets cos Royal Mail had failed to deliver to our friends in South Wales. Took up our selling positions at the away end and had to go in before we could hand the tickets over. So a big thanks to Dudley the friendly steward who agreed to hang on to them until Dave and Barbara arrived after their M5 nightmare from the south.
And what a first half, undoubtedly one of the very best City performances ever. Yaya and Silva outstanding.
“Where were you when you were shit?” chanted the Baggies.
Erm, we filled this stand when we were shit, and YOU lot couldn’t fill it cos you were shit.
Vinny got the third and celebrated madly. A goal from a corner but don’t get carried away as Martin D scored at the Arse with one early in the season, and then…….
So Raheem is top of the league and we celebrated at Sandbach with a hot chocolate, cream, marshmellows with chocolate sprinkled on top.
So a promising start.
Went to the Etihad today to pick up some tickets for tomorrow night’s do. Served by a nice young lady, M’s Grace. So a chance to see the finished South stand, erm not quite there I don’t think. Anyway, looking forward to it, see you there

Sunday, 9 August 2015

David Sullivan said yesterday that West Ham  directors are treated like second class citizens at City.
Today West Ham beat the Arse 20, Saints drew 2-2 at Newcastle and Liverpool annoyingly won 1-0 at Stoke.
Tomorrow we finally get the season going with our visit to West Brom.
Here’s the It’s A Fix extract from KK225….

Last trophy FA Cup 1968, recent connection Joleon Lescott, Gorgios Samaras, 137th lg meeting

Some celeb fans : Frank Skinner, Julie Walters, Lennie Henry, Eric Clapton, Ronnie Wood, Cat Deeley, Judas Priest, Adrian Goldberg, Adrian Chiles, Dave Haslam, and KK subscriber Roy Carmichael

Last season : They finished in 13th place with 44 points with 7 wins 4 draws and 8 losses at home.

At The Hawthorns in December on a picturesque snowy day it was a 3-1 City win. We were 3 up by half time, no guarantee of a win these days, Fernando (8) Yaya (13P), Silva (34) scoring for City then Ideye (87) pulled one back. Crowd was 26,040 with 2,703 Blues.
At The Etihad in March  it was a 3-0 City win. McAuley was sent off in the 2nd minute which kinda killed the game off as a contest. Goals came from Bony (27), Fernando (40) and Silva (77). Crowd was 45,018 with 711 Baggies. Pulis must hate us!

In the Capital One Cup they lost 2-1 at high flying Bournemouth in the 4th rd.
In the FA Cup in the 6th round they lost 2-0 at Villa, and were rightly unhappy at the pitch invasions.

Comment : James(controversial)  McLean’s come in and Dorrans is the main departure.
Tony Pulis as expected, steadied the ship last season and steered them to safety including a 3-0 home win over Chelsea who’d already clinched the title.
Berahinho is their star but wayward man, and the squad includes Darren Fletcher (boo) , and Callum MacManaman…..
Justice for Jeff is a campaign launched by Dawn Astle, daughter of former Albion and England number nine Jeff Astle to raise awareness to her dad’s and others plight who died or are living with the results of continually heading the ball in their careers. Not sure if Baggies fans are continuing to stage a one minutes applause in the 9th minute of games, which was rather thwarted at The Hawthorns when we played them last year as City scored in the 8th minute.

Form at West Brom : Last season’s win made it :

Groundwise : The Hawthorns : Capacity : 28,003 (2,700 for City)
We’re in the RHS behind the goal again. We’ve written to the club to request permission to sell KK and have had a nice reply allowing us to sell at the away end so look out for us there.
We’re made to walk all round the ground at the end of the game.

John Cross is the manumirror’s Chief Football writer, if that’s the best they can do……!
Geoff’s told me not to analyse it so I’ll just put down the gist of his article with Jamo, as I’m sure there’ll be lots to say on the subject in the next KK!

David James reckons that City are the weakest link and will miss out on the top four.
He says the whole club’s philosophy is wrong and got lucky by tripping over the line in their two Premier league titles.
Liverpool will be the surprise package of the season and will knock City out of the top four despite another summer of big spending (presumably City’s, not Liverpool’s?)
City signed Sterling for 49M (if we win the Euro Cup?) Delph, Roberts and are in for £50M rated Kevin de Bruyne.
It would be unthinkable for mega-rich City not to be challenging for the title, let alone missing out on the top four, but their collapse at the end of last season did raise some doubts about Pellegrini.
James thinks that City have big problems ahead and claims Liverpool have addressed their weaknesses by replacing  their backroom staff .
Chelsea had the title won in November.
The City model isn’t right, just spending loads of money and acquiring players isn’t necessarily the model for continued success
Liverpool can’t spend £250M on players and not have success.
There you go, you can drive a bus through it if you like!

Robbie Savage has City finishing 5th and united winning the title!

Lots of doom and gloom on the blog at the mo, let’s hope we’re pleasantly surprised and the 3-2 wins will continue this season.

Would the rags get an easy draw in Europe or CSKA away? FC Bruges!

Friday, 7 August 2015

When I’ve time I’ll have a closer look at the manumirror’s John Cross article with David James. Don’t think that Jamo slagged us off all on his own he was put up to it by Cross the rag who challenges McDonnell as c*nt of the month.

I’ve just filled in the questionnaire for the City Live show, but here’s my two penneth.

1)     We went in separate cars as daughter and grandaughter couldn’t set off in time for the 5pm opening.
2)     Queued up from 5 til 25 past in the rain before being allowed in. Then found out we’d queued in the wrong queue, though there was no indication of being in the ticket collection queue.
3)     Noticed a couple of tables hosted by my friends of the supporters clubs. Had I known I would’ve requested a KK table.
4)     Took up our places on the back row despite booking fairly early.
5)     Pre show hosted by Nat and  Dan, fine – goal of the season shown – 10 goals?
6)     Manchester Camerata, very good, wish they’d played Thunderstruck!
7)     Pellegrini’s interview didn’t inspire.
8)     Rest of it fairly OK.
9)     Brill drumming group
10)  Not sure that goal of the season should include more than in the Prem but understand why.
11)  Disappointed that the vid of City’s history including last season’s highlights  wasn’t shown.
12)  Great performance from the group at the end, but why did most leave?
13)  Paid £10 for parking and daughter paid £5 after parking up after six. Lesson to learn for next year.
Fantastic turn out and it was just great to be amongst so many fellow Blues. Room for improvement though, not enough player/fans interaction. Do the club involve any fans in the agenda for the event. Should there be a questionnaire BEFORE the event instead of afterwards?
Any thoughts?

The Community Shield and a win for Arsenal who looked good and could do it this year with Cech in goal. Chelsea’s got problems. Can’t see Falcau doing owt and Costa’s injuries are cause for concern . Good!

Sad news about Cilla, and she was only 72. However I remember her once saying on TV that Maggie Thatcher had put the Great back into Britain. Also when she was the Pied Piper in panto once she asked the kids how she should get rid of the rats and someone in  the audience (a kid’s dad) shouted out “sing to them”. Brilliant, I wish I’d shouted that out. Having said that as someone from my era I was deeply shocked and saddened that she’s passed away.

So what’s being said in the press? The Independent wonders about Sterling being on our bench? Bloody hell he looks like the main man. Robbie Savage reckons the rags will win the title. Brian Reade thinks that Delph, sitting on City’s bench, will miss out on his England chances for the Euros.
Today Rio’s stated that Stones shouldn’t  join Chelsea to sit on their bench, and instead he should join, wait for it, the rags.   Aren’t we all sick of all the ex rags and Pooh players coming out with such bollocks, not to mention their media mates?
Just a few days to go for us to sign up a complete defence?
City Live tomorrow, see you there?

Finally, is that our friendly journo Martin Samuel performing in the latest (and miles better) You’re so Money Supermarket advert? Only joking!

Saturday, 1 August 2015

Been busy this week picking up KK225 from the printers, delivering to Aleef in town where sales will be affected as Cross Street is being dug up, then the Nat Footy museum through a load more building works.
We then went along to Home (daft name) to watch the brilliant Love and Mercy film about Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys.
Then it was off to Stockport which is also being dug up. What’s going on?
I’ve got most of the subscribers copies in the post  and hope to finish off tonight.
Good piece in the Guardian mag re women’s footy.
Didn’t see any of the Stuttgart game, think we need to get back to playing Bury and Stockport pre-season, to give us some confidence.
Just to finish off, New York City lost 3-2 at home to Montreal, Frank finally making his debut.
Tickets for City Live arrived so let’s hope there’s a bit of interaction with the players on Wednesday.
Season ticket pack has also arrived with a few goodies. and there on the inside cover of the Cityzens Members’ handbook is a nice shot of East stand level two blocks 207 to 209 showing myself in the blue jacket and all our friends who we’ll miss now we’ve all had to move.
So not a very inspiring pre-season, and a worrying week ahead before we go to West Brom
